Presenting the film.

Now that our films are complete we have to make a powerpoint, about the film and evaluating it. Here are the questions we have to address:

What was the purpose of your film?

Who was it produced for?

How far have the purpose and audience expectations determined the nature of the representation?

What devices and techniques did you use to encode reality?(choice of shots, editing, music, etc

To what extent is your representation of the school fair and accurate?

How effective do you think your text is?

Does it achieve its purpose in your opinion?

We will be presenting the film with this powerpoint.

Making the films

We went out around the school with a camera. Filming things as we came across them, for both the positive and negative films. We then started editing them together and filming bits as we needed them. I was away for a week, but in my absence the other guys got more footage and edited a large part of the positive video. Which come to about 2 and a bit minutes long. The seond, negative video is just under 2 minutes.

Choosing the music for the films was quite difficult, as it needed to fit the film and suit the mood of the films. For the positive film we went for a piece that was quite uplifting and suited a running race in slow motion. Strangely, it fitted surprisingly well. We did have some footage of a running race so it is now in slow motion. For the negative film we had a lot of trouble choosing the music and in the end went for a random piece that I am not 100% pleased with but we had to meet a deadline so couldn't keep tinkering.

Overall, I feel we have achieved our aim and the two videos definitely portray the same place in very different ways.
